Do I need two speakers?: No. One aaro one is a complete system that fills a room from wherever it sits. Add a second for true, physically separated stereo, and more for surround.
Is one speaker stereo?: A single cabinet can't place left and right physically apart, so we don't call it stereo. It plays a wide, even sound in every direction. Two speakers give you real stereo.
Do I need a subwoofer?: No. aaro one plays deep on its own. aaro sub adds depth and headroom for films and large rooms, and room tuning sets its level, delay and crossover for you.
Can I use my own subwoofer?: Yes. aaro one has a subwoofer output, and room tuning measures your subwoofer and integrates it the same way.
Does it work without the internet?: Yes. Local sources, Bluetooth, the controls on the speaker, stereo pairs and your saved room tuning all keep working. Streaming services need a connection, as they always do.
Are the microphones always listening?: Only for the wake word, on the speaker, and only if you turn voice on. Room audio is never stored, and the switch underneath disconnects every microphone and sensor.
Do I need a subscription?: No. Sound, room tuning, stereo, multiroom and updates are included. An optional plan adds longer voice conversations.
Does it play Dolby Atmos?: Yes, for music and film. aaro renders every sound object to the speakers you have, with height from the up-firing drivers in each one.
